Look who's arrived!

Waiting at the airport!

Today was VERY exciting! We've been counting down the weeks, and then days till Mum and Dad would arrive, and today was the day!

Geoff picked the girls up early from school so we could see the plane land and wave to Grandpa and Oma as they hopped off the plane. The plane was actually early though, so we missed seeing it land, but got there in time to wave madly from the viewing deck at Mum and Dad before they lined up to get through customs.

And here they are - safe and sound in hot Honiara!

We are all loving having Mum and Dad around to share some of our Solomon Island experiences with. What a blessing for us!

  2. Hi Amanda,
We're enjoying your blog - thanks for writing it because it's really helped us get our heads around our trip to the Solomons. I'm wondering about how your mum and dad went with their luggage. I see from the photo that the guitar and everything made it there okay. How much weight did they end up being able to bring along? Did they have to pay for any extra kgs? Thanks, Simon van der Wel

  3. Hi Simon and Lydia,
Mum and Dad had absolutely no problems with the weight. They rang up before hand to check exactly how much they could bring. You are allowed two suitcases each, plus a carry on bag. Each suitcase has to be 20kg or less - the carry on about 7kg. That is different to what we thought it was - so hopefully you have no problems with the weight. Dad had the guitar and his suitcase - which came to 32kg, and it was fine - no extra charge. Wish we knew that when we came - I would have brought so many more books for kids over here!
You are probably best to ring the airline and double check - but Mum and Dad had no problems. Hope that helps. See you soon
    Love Amanda
